I posted pictures of my 2020 art study notebook on my Instagram account a while ago. I almost didn’t want to publish it since it’s such a hot mess, unorganized, and you can see my emotions shift as my handwriting shifts from clean and precise to hurried and illegible.
But I vowed I’d leave it up to my tarot cards for a yes or no answer, so I shuffled the deck and drew the Page of Orbs. I took it to mean sure, please publish the study notes, so here we are. (Instead of taking a picture of the card draw, see the Page of Orbs doodle above.)
The journal mostly consists of taking notes when watching online video lectures by art professors or writing down information from articles and books that I’m reading.
Please don’t take anything you read here as fact. This is just one beginning amateur want tobe artist’s own handwritten study notes as she began her self-study into learning how to draw.
I scanned the notebook in the normal US Letter format of 8.5′′ x 11′′. Here’s how to do it:
